Last night's jam-packed episode of NXT concluded with a World Championship match, as Adam Cole put the gold on the line against The Velveteen Dream.
Although Dream has been one of the most popular Superstars on the black and gold brand's roster for quite some time, nobody really expected the title to change hands here, and sure enough, The Panama City Playboy retained... with a lot of help from his friends in the Undisputed ERA.
The match went back and forth, with both men hitting some big moves and coming close to victory on a couple of occasions. However, when it looked like Velveteen was about to gain the advantage and finish Cole off with a Purple Rainmaker, Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong made their way to the ring to get involved.
Dream did have some backup of his own in the form of Dexter Loomis, but he was soon taken out of the equation, and an ERA beat-down on the outside allowed Cole to his his Last Shot and pick up the win.
This probably isn't the end of this feud, but don't expect Dream to get another title shot until fans are allowed back into arenas.
