Blake Monroe returns in the aftermath of NXT vs. TNA.
The former AEW World Champion is coming off a grueling match against Jordynne Grace at No Mercy that resulted in Monroe taking her second pinfall loss in the developmental brand. It seems that Monroe is moving on from her sworn rival as she’s being advertised to face Zaria in her first match back.
These two don’t have any history with one another, but Zaria is best friends with the current Speed and North American Champion Sol Ruca. Could NXT be moving Monroe into the North American title scene? That's a clear yes based on the recent backstage segment with Monroe.
Also, Matt Cardona will fight in a WWE ring for the first time since 2020. The man formerly known as Zack Ryder is scheduled to take on Josh Briggs. This is based off the former WWE star interfering in Briggs’ match two weeks ago against Myles Borne. The NXT star ended up winning the match, despite Borne not having any ties to TNA.
Cardona isn’t the only outside talent competing on Tuesday as AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo del Dr. Wagner. This will be El Hijo del Dr. Wagner’s first time competing in an NXT ring as the decorated AAA star is expected to take on Lexis King. For the past couple of weeks, Wagner has had his issues with the current North American Champion Ethan Page. However, in order for Wagner to get an opportunity against the NXT star then he has to work his way up through the rankings. Can El Hijo del Dr. Wagner win his very first match down in NXT?
We’ll find out Tuesday as the show following the NXT vs. TNA Showdown event seems like it could be a fun one on paper. Check out the advertised line-up below:
- A battle royal for a shot at Jacy Jayne and the NXT Women’s Championship at Halloween Havoc
- Matt Cardona vs. Josh Briggs
- AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. vs. Lexis King
- Blake Monroe vs. Zaria
