We knew former ROH star and indie sensation Lio Rush was set to make his NXT debut soon thanks to some recent TV taping spoilers, and last night the young high-flyer did just that... well, kinda!
Rush did make his way out to the ring for a one-on-one match with the undefeated Aleister Black but was then attached from behind by his old tag-team partner, The Velveteen Dream. Black will now begin a feud with Dream, so it looks like NXT won't be pushing Lio too hard in the early goings.
In addition, Mae Young Classic winner Kairi Sane had her first match for the yellow brand, defeating a game Aliyah in a solid, but far too brief bout. Sane will now go on to compete in a four-way match for the vacant NXT Women's Championchip at Takeover: Houston.
