Candice LeRae is the new No. 1 contender for the NXT Women's Championship, and will face Io Shirai for the title at the upcoming NXT TakeOver 31 event.

The Poison Pixie took out Tegan Nox before the Battle Royal, giving us an early indication that she would go on to win. There were some other possibilities such as Rhea Ripley and Rachel Gonzalez, but most of the competitors were Performance Centre recruits who the announcers couldn't even be bothered to identify when they were eliminated.

In the end, it came down to LeRae and Shotzi Blackheart, with both Superstars perched precariously around the ring steps. When Blackheart attempted to head scissor takedown, Candice used her leg-strength to fling her to the floor.

LeRae and Johnny Gargano then go in Shirai's face backstage, and when Damien Priest - who Gargano had attacked earlier in the night - intervened, a mixed tag match was made for next Wednesday.
