Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez Take Out Io Shirai Ahead Of NXT TAKEOVER: XXX Women's Title Match

Dakota Kai gained some major momentum heading into her NXT Women's Championship match at TakeOver: XXX this Saturday during last night's go-home episode of the black and gold brand.

The former Captain of Team Kick won her singles match against a game Jessi Kamea (a possible member of Retribution!), before grabbing the mic and cutting a promo on Io Sharai, promising to "kick her in the face" repeatedly at the PPV. It wasn't long befire the Evil Genius of the Sky interrupted and rushed the ring, putting Kai down with a series of strikes.

However, once the fighting moved to the outside, Raquel Gonzales appeared through the curtain and took Shirai out with a big boot. Both women then rolled Io in the ring and continued the beat-down.

So much for going it alone, Dakota!

It seems unlikely that Kai will win the title on Saturday, but we have heard that she is in line for a fairly substantial push as one of the top heels of the NXT women's division, so you never know.
