Could we see a new NXT Champion?
Coming in, all eyes were on Oba Femi and Trick Williams for the prestigious belt, but Eddy Thorpe pulled the wool over everyone’s eyes. On the go-home episode before NXT Deadline, Thorpe was found unconscious backstage. Many assumed that it Oba Femi since he was the man who replaced Thorpe in the Iron Survivor Match.
Instead, Thorpe made a shocking confession after signing an NXT title contract - he was the culprit behind his own attack! The 34-year-old’s brilliant and cunning move has skyrocketed him into number one contender’s status; will Thorpe be able to use his smarts and skills to beat Trick Williams?
The NXT star has yet to win a belt in the developmental brand, but he’s shown plenty of promise since he made his debut in March 2023. However, Trick Williams is a two-time NXT Champion for a reason. He’s coming off a hard fought victory over Ridge Holland, and though he has Oba Femi in the rearview, that doesn’t mean he’s overlooking his opponent tonight.
In another title match, Nathan Frazer and Axiom will defend their NXT Tag Team belts against Mark Coffey and Wolfgang. The duo has successfully held those titles for 107 days; defeating The Street Profits, A-Town Down Under, and No Quarter Catch Crew to retain them, but that doesn’t mean Frazer and Axiom should take Mark Coffey and Wolfgang lightly.
Coffey and Wolfgang are former two-time NXT Tag Team Champions. The duo had a dominant reign in NXT UK and another lengthy one in 2023. Will Mark Coffey and Wolfgang win the NXT Tag Team tiles for the third time? Or will Frazer and Axiom carry their run into 2025?
However, Axiom will be doing double duty tonight as ½ of the NXT Tag Team Champions will take on Oba Femi in a number one contender’s match. If Axiom has this match before defending his prestigious belts, will he even be physically capable of wrestling Coffey and Wolfgang? The bright side of this is that Axiom could walk out the new number one contender for the NXT title.
