Could Team Canada make their way to Smackdown?
Chelsea Green and Ethan Page have been lighting up the developmental brand in recent weeks. It’s quite possible that the partnership between Green and Page could extend to the main roster. According to WrestleVotes, WWE higher-ups are impressed with the pairing and are seriously considering bringing them up together.
“Hearing several within WWE would like to see the current pairing of Chelsea Green & NXT North American Champion Ethan Page appear on SmackDown in the near future, as their chemistry on NXT TV has impressed many. Additionally, some believe this newly minted Canadian faction would quickly establish Page as a key player.”
Though Chelsea is a popular act on the main roster, she is also treated as a lower/mid card heel. It’s quite possible that bringing up Page with Green can help elevate both wrestlers, especially since the former has really excelled at every role that NXT has thrown at him. It would be a shame if he’s instantly branded as a lower/mid card talent.
Nevertheless, there’s no denying the chemistry that Chelsea Green and Ethan Page have onscreen.
It all started back on August 5th where Page was celebrating his 70th day as the North American Champion when the former Women’s United States Champion came out to sing along “Oh Canada” with Page.
But Tavion Heights interrupted. And Green tore down the NXT star for his disrespect. That kicked off a feud between Chelsea Green and Ethan Page vs. Tavion Heights and Tyra Mae Steele that came to a head at NXT Heatwave. Green and Page pulled out the victory at the PLE. However, they continued to work together following their victory over Heights and Steele.
Given that Page is stlll the NXT North American Champion, he would have to drop the belt before heading up to the main roster as it's rare that WWE allows an NXT star to make a main roster debut with one of their developmental titles. With him still continuing his feud against Tavion Heights following Heatwave, it’s quite possible that he’ll drop the belt to the 28-year-old soon. That’s pure speculation as there’s been no rumors on who Page will end up losing the North American title to.
