Seth Rollins beat AJ Styles at Night of Champions to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. Since then, it's been made clear that the RAW Superstar is a fighting champion, and he successfully defended the belt against Damian Priest this past Monday.
It appears Finn Balor is being lined up as Rollins' next challenger, but last night's episode of NXT saw someone else make their interest in the title known.
Former NXT Champion Bron Breakker confirmed he's taking aim at the World Heavyweight Championship during the show's closing moments. Calling Rollins out, he said the Visionary needs to come to the developmental brand to prove he's "the workhorse of WWE."
Breakker also made sure to point out that, while Rollins was the first NXT Champion, he's the most dominant (for those of you who may not remember, Bron has held the title twice and his second reign lasted just shy of a year).
There have long been rumblings about bringing Breakker to the main roster, and while this doesn't sound like his callup, it's a clever way to familiarise RAW and SmackDown viewers with a Superstar WWE hopes will be the next big thing.
Whether Rollins defending the championship on NXT is a good or bad thing is hard to say; Roman Reigns' Undisputed WWE Universal Championship feels like a big deal because he only defends it in big matches. Rollins putting his title on the line on such a regular basis is a good thing for fans, but perhaps not best for the championship itself.
Still, we cannot wait to see this match (Rollins has yet to respond to the challenge).
