The former NXT Champion has released a statement on being forced to drop out of his title match this Friday at Takeover: New York and his future in the ring once he returns.

Originally, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano were set to finish a rivalry that has been building since 2016. In a span of three fantastic encounters between the former tag team partners turned rivals, both Ciampa and Gargano showcased to the wrestling world the beauty and art of storytelling inside a ring.

Unfortunately, Ciampa was forced to relinquish the title due a neck injury and now, Adam Cole will be taking on Johnny Gargano in a two out of three falls match for the vacant belt. The former NXT champion has released a formal statement about being on the sidelines for the biggest weekend in professional wrestling and revealed that the doctors told him that he will be on borrowed time should he return from his latest injury:

At the moment, there’s no timetable for Ciampa's return.
