The Diamond Mine is now open, and the new NXT stable made their presence felt in a big way to close out last night's episode of the black and gold brand.
Kyle O'Reilly defeated KUSHIDA in the main event, and as Adam Cole rushed the ring to attack his former friend and current rival, another ex-Undisputed Era member, Roderick Strong, led his new faction in an attack on the Cruiserweight Champion.
Strong was joined by up-and-coming Superstars Hideki Suzuki and Tyler Rust, with Malcolm Bivens seemingly on board as their manager. It was a solid debut and a convincing beat-down, but the lack of any big names aside from Roddy might stack the odds against these guys getting "over" as an established heel group.
According to our sources, Strong was always envisioned as the leader, but other members were actually discussed before Rust and Hideki were made official. We also hear that the plan is for The Diamond Mine to mix it up with the Cruiserweights for the time being, in an effort to place more of an emphasis on the division.
