Shayna Baszler retained her NXT Women's Championship tonight in an excellent steel cage match against Io Shirai, but the real story is what happened after the bout.

After narrowly losing to The Queen of Spades yet again, Shirai proceeded to take out her frustrations on her "friend" Candice LeRae who had come out to lend her a hand. The Genius of the Sky laid a brutal beatdown on Mrs. Wrestling with a steel chair to a chorus of boos, and then finished her off with a sickening delayed suplex on the open chair.

Shirai had only just begun to establish herself as one of the NXT Women's Division's top faces, so this is a surprising move. We assume she'll now go on to feud with Candice, while another challenger for The Queen of Spades' title will presumably emerge in the buildup to TakeOver: Toronto.
