It Looks Like Io Shirai May Emerge As The Next Contender For Shayna Baszler's NXT Women's Championship

It looks like recent WWE acquisition Io Shirai may have emerged as the next contender for Shayna Baszler's NXT Women's Championship.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Shirai pinned The Queen of Spades in a triple-threat match at a recent live event, which means there's a strong likelihood that a feud will develop. Of course, there's no guarantee that The Genius of The Sky will get a title shot, but that is how these things usually progress.

Then again, there's a chance Shirai will simply earn an opportunity to become the No. 1 contender in a Fatal 4-Way with other Superstars involved, which is a route NXT has taken several times in the past.

Let's hope these two do face off in a big marquee bout, though, because Io is immensely talented with a tonne of experience, and could potentially give Baszler her best match yet.
