He finally did it: Johnny Gargano is your new NXT Champion.

Gargano defeated Adam Cole in a superb 2-out-of-3 Falls Match at NXT TakeOver: New York last night, despite interference from the rest of The Undisputed Era and The Panama City Playboy pulling some unexpected tricks out of the bag (did you ever think you'd see the Panama Sunrise in WWE?).  Cole came very close to winning after securing the first fall, but in the end Johnny Wrestling managed to lock on the Gargano Escape and force his opponent to tap out twice in a row.

After the match, Tommaso Ciampa greeted his former DIY partner on the top of the ramp to congratulate him.

As great as this match was, one can't help but wish Gargano and Ciampa got to see one of the best feuds in WWE history to its natural conclusion. Still, with The Blackheart looking likely to return as a face once he's recovered from surgery, it takes their journey full circle and adds another layer to the story.

What did you guys think of TakeOver: New York? Can WrestleMania possibly match up? Sound off down below.
