All hail the Queen of the NXT UK women’s division.
Sunday marked a huge milestone for reigning NXT UK Women's Champion Kay Lee Ray, as the 27-year-old officially became the longest reigning champion of the United Kingdom brand, a feat that was previously held by Toni Storm.
Ray originally won the NXT UK Women’s title back at NXT TakeOver: Cardiff on August 31, 2019 inside the Cardiff Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales. Since then, the Scottish professional wrestler has been a huge asset of the respective division by carrying himself with a nice poise and athleticism a champion should have.
Ray has successfully defended her belt against Taynara Conti, Piper Niven, and previous champ, Toni Storm, on two separate occasions. Their last encounter was an I Quit match back in January, Ray won the match-up and forced the 24-year-old out of the title picture as long as she's champion.
At the moment, the NXT UK talents are not wrestling due to the coronavirus epidemic. The brand just ran out of fresh material, with the company playing the greatest hits when it comes the developmental brand.
