Noam Dar is no longer the Heritage Cup Champion.
Unfortunately for Dar, NXT General Manager Ava made a surprising announcement that the Heritage Cup Champion has suffered an injury that will force him to relinquish the trophy cup. WWE doesn't say how severe the injury is.
“Due to injury, Noam Dar will not be able to compete this Tuesday and will have to relinquish the NXT Heritage Cup Championship,” said Ava on X. “This Tuesday, Stacks (will) compete in a match to crown a new Heritage Cup Champion against an opponent to be named.”
This is disappointing news since Dar is coming off a lengthy injury that kept him out of action for nearly a year. Noam Dar is actually a four time Heritage Cup Champion. The title was first introduced in 2020 and the inaugural champion was A-Kid.
Dar first won the belt on July 14, 2022 by beating Tyler Bate. He kept it for 260 days. His second run with the title was 341 days. Before his injury, he captured the title again and held onto it for 189 days. Dar suffered a torn tendon in May 2024 after dropping it to Charlie Dempsey.
He came back in April and challenged Lexis King for the cup and won it very quickly.
Dar was scheduled to have his first title defense against Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, but that has been changed. At the moment, there’s no word on who the mystery opponent could be. This upcoming episode will feature two title matches as Trick Williams will also defend the TNA World Championship against Josh Briggs. The Evolution title eliminator tournament will also continue on this Tuesday’s episode.
It’s a shame that Dar has gone back on the injured list. Hopefully, it’s not something too serious because Dar is in the danger zone of becoming injury prone. Of course, it’s not his fault that another injury has happened, but WWE may hesitate to give him another significant push if he’s out for another long period of time. That’s pure speculation on my end since there’s word on how officials feel about Dar’s latest injury. Here’s to wishing Dar a speedy recovery!
