During Friday night's episode of SmackDown, CM Punk returned to the blue brand for the first time in nearly a decade. The Best in the World let fans know that he'll decide which show he'll sign with on RAW this Monday and teased meeting with NXT boss Shawn Michaels this weekend as well.
Well, NXT Deadline kicked off with the Heartbreak Kid welcoming Punk to NXT!
Making his way to the ring, Punk stopped to do Michaels' signature pose before joining HBK in the middle of the ring. The former AEW star suggested they take a selfie together so he could get a photo with someone he grew up watching, just like the younger talent in the back has been doing with him all day.
They joked around for a little while - including a "Suck it!" reference - before teasing the possibility of Punk signing with NXT. We don't necessarily expect that to happen, of course, but it's feasible that he might appear on the show from time to time as a ratings boost.
Michaels recently said this when asked about Punk's WWE return:
"I get, like everybody else, I get happy, thrilled, like, holy cow...I understand business. And also, look, I wasn't always the most popular guy to people, but I was really good at my job and I feel like that's one of the reasons I've had one here in the WWE for almost four years."
"I'm dependable, and I'm good at my job. I think if you are that, there's always an opportunity here, especially if you if you want one."
