NXT overtook direct competitor All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite in total viewers last night for the first time ever.
TNT's fledgling promotion had managed to stay ahead of WWE's "developmental" show ever since the so-called Wednesday Night War kicked off, but this week, the black and gold brand came out on top with 916,000 overall viewers from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. That means NXT hooked in 23,000 more cable TV viewers than the AEW (893,000), although the latter did still win the day in key demographic statistics.
This is obviously great news for NXT, which has been presenting a very exciting wrestling-based product with more believable angles. Of course, it probably didn't hirt that several Superstars from Raw and SmackDown dropped by in the buildup to this Sunday's Survivor Series!
Will NXT be able to maintain their lead after the PPV? We'll just have to wait and see.
