Here is a breakdown of the results from tonight's episode of NXT for January 9, 2019:

— Johnny Gargano cuts a promo, saying he understands that all that matters is winning championships, so he promises in 2019, he'll be a champion. He clarifies that Tommaso Ciampa is still garbage in his eyes, but he likes the idea of going for the North American Championship. Ricochet comes out to say he has a title shot if he wants it, but he's not taking the belt from him. Ciampa comes out and is quickly shut up. Aleister Black shows up on the TitanTron to say he'll make Ciampa fade to black. The lights go out and when they come back, Black is attacking Ciampa. They run off into the back area. Gargano takes advantage of the distraction to superkick Ricochet.

— Bianca Belair defeated Nikki Cross by pinfall

— The Street Profits had a video segment, talking about how there won't be any locked doors for them in 2019.

— "European Union" (Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel) defeated Hector Kunsman and Stanley Watts by pinfall

— In response to Kassius Ohno's continued problems with Matt Riddle, Keith Lee has challenged Ohno to a match for next week to teach him a lesson.

— Adam Cole defeated EC3 by pinfall. After the match, The Undisputed ERA attacked EC3 until War Raiders made the save. They will face The Undisputed ERA at TakeOver: Phoenix for the NXT Tag Team Championship.
