NXT Women's Championship No. 1 Contender's Battle Royal Set For Next Week's Episode

Io Shirai managed to defeat Shotzi Blackheart in a hard-hitting non-title match last night on NXT, but the Evil Genius of the Sky may not be so lucky when she faces the winner of next week's No. 1 Contender Battle Royal.

Last night, William Regal announced that an over-the-top rope Battle Royal would determine the next challenger for Shirai's title. The specific participants weren't named, but as you can see from the promo image, it looks like pretty much every member of the black and gold brand's women's division will be competing.

Rhea Ripley is obviously the clear favourite, but we think there might be a surprise entrant. While Mercedes Martinez is not pictured, don't be surprised if she does enter and winds up winning.

Though it wasn't clarified, it's assumed that the winner of the match will go on to face Shirai for the NXT Women's Championship at NXT TakeOver next month.

Next week's episode will also see Jake Atlas attempt to get some payback on Tomasso Ciampa for the merciless beat-down he suffered last week. Best of luck!
