We have new number one contenders!

This past Tuesday, NXT held a Christmas Chaos Fatal Four-way tag team match between Hank Walker and Tank Ledger, Out The Mud’s Bronco Nima and Lucien Price, No Quarter Catch Crew's Tavion Heights and Myles Borne, and The D'Angelo Family's Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and Luca Crusifino.

The match came down to Lorenzo & Crusifino and OTM, with the former seconds away from winning the match by hitting the Shatter Machine for a strong nearfall. But the commotion outside distracted Lorenzo and Crusifino as Tony D’Angelo was attacked by Ridge Holland. That brief moment allowed OTM to hit their tag team finisher and get the pinfall.

This will be Nima and Price’s first crack at challenging Axiom and Nathan Frazer for the NXT Tag Team titles. The duo previously got a shot at the titles in August against Chase U, but they failed to capture the belts that night. Out the Mud had been struggling a bit since they lost their first chance at winning the NXT Tag Team titles. They even lost to Axiom and Nathan Frazer before they won the respective belts.

Axiom and Frazer have only gotten better as a tag team since their last encounter. The duo has held the belt for 116 days and successfully defended them six times: A-Town Down Under, Cedric Alexander & Je'Von Evans,  Josh Briggs & Yoshiki Inamura, and No Quarter Catch Crew (Myles Borne & Tavion Heights) all failed to get the better of the NXT duo. Their most recent victory came last week against Gallus. That was the night Axiom was forced to wrestle two matches. These guys are on a massive roll as a tag team and it’ll be interesting to see how Out the Mad will fare against the champions. Could we be looking at the new NXT Tag Team Champions?

Thus far, NXT has yet to confirm the date for the tag team title match, though it’s likely taking place at New Year’s Evil. The match is not listed for next week’s episode and since the 12/31/24 NXT taping has already been filmed, an NXT Tag Team title bout did not take place during the final 2024 episode of NXT. We’ll keep you updated once a date has been confirmed.
