As Adam Cole is fond of reminding us, he is indeed the longest reigning NXT Champion in history and has successfully defended the title against everyone that's been put in his path. However, he may finally have met his match in Karrion Kross.
Cole defeated Dexter Lumis (with a little help from Roderick Strong) in the main event of NXT this week, and when his Undisputed ERA buddies were chased off by Lumis and Velveteen Dream after the match, the lights dimmed and Scarlett walked silently to the ring.
The Angel of Doom then placed an hourglass in the ring, sending a clear message that Kross is coming for the NXT Championship.
We figured the former Impact Wrestling star would enter the title picture eventually - especially after decimating Tommaso Ciampa at TakeOver - but we thought he'd run through a few more opponents first, so this is something of a surprise. That said, who was left for The Panama City Playboy to defend against?
At any rate, Cole vs. Kross still hasn't been confirmed, so it might be a while before we actually get to see that match. Tick tock, baybay!
