NXT started 2025 off with a bang!
At New Year’s Evil, Giulia beat Roxanne Perez to become the new NXT Women’s Champion. But that wasn’t the only title change as Oba Femi won a triple threat match to win the NXT Championship. The 2024 Iron Survivor Winners are now the faces of the developmental brand, but more changes could be coming NXT’s way.
Next week, Out Tha Mind’s Bronco Nima and Lucien Price will finally cash in on their contendership as they’ll take on Nathan Frazer and Axiom for the NXT Tag Team titles. Given the recent tension brewing between Frazer and Axiom, it’s possible that the fan favorite duo could drop their belts to the rising NXT tag team.
Also, Stephanie Vaquer got through a big hurdle at New Year’s Evil by beating Kelani Jordan, Lola Vice, and Cora Jade to become the number one contender to Fallon Henley’s NXT Women’s North American Title. But the problem is that Shotzi actually pinned Henley in a six-woman tag match and the WWE star feels that she deserves to get a title shot before Vaquer. Ava settled the debate by making another number one contender’s match between Stephanie and Shotzi. It’s not explained why either Vaquer or Shotzi couldn’t just get the title shot first, with the other getting a match with the winner. However, it seems that NXT is on a contendership binge at the moment.
Because that isn’t the only number one contender’s match.
Unholy Union (Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn) could have another chance at championship gold if they can defeat Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson. Fyre and Dawn are former two-time women’s tag team champions, but Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson won’t be as easy to take down despite never winning the tag titles. There wasn't a date given on when the winner will face Bianca Belair and Naomi for the WWE Women's Tag Team titles.
Hot off a great show, next week’s NXT sounds like a great one on paper.
