Earlier today, we brought you the news that Io Shirai would face Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women's Championship in a steel cage match in two weeks, but that bout was actually taped last night, and we have the shocking results for you right here.

According to reports from those in attendance, Shirai lost the match and proceeded to take out her frustrations on her "friend" Candice LeRae who had come out to lend her a hand. Apparently, The Genius of the Sky laid a brutal beatdown on Mrs. Wrestling with a kendo stick to a chorus of boos.

Shirai had only just begun to establish herself as one of the NXT Women's Division's top faces, so this is a surprising move. We assume she'll now go on to feud with Candice, while another challenger for The Queen of Spades' title will presumably emerge in the buildup to TakeOver: Toronto.

What do you guys make of this development? Sound off below.
