Tommaso Ciampa Will Be Forced To Relinquish The NXT Championship Prior To Neck Surgery

We have some bad news for you today as just weeks after Tommaso Ciampa arrived on the main roster, it's been revealed that he needs to undergo neck surgery and will be out of action for a long time to come.

Well, this sucks. It's been revealed by Dave Meltzer that Tommaso Ciampa's neck injury will require him to undergo surgery. While there's no specific timetable for his return, it's said that he won't be in the ring for a very long time and based on similar surgeries Superstars have gone through in the past, he could be out of action for anywhere from 6 - 14 months.

As a result, there's no way that Ciampa can defend the NXT Championship against Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: New York and it's thought that he will relinquish the title at the next NXT tapings.

This also puts the brakes on his main roster debut. Both Gargano and Ciampa appeared on RAW and SmackDown Live a couple of weeks ago but both men have been absent ever since and the spotlight has instead been put on Ricochet and Aleister Black.

We'll be sure to keep you guys updated on this situation as we hear more in the coming days.
