WrestleMania has never really put the spotlight on NXT Superstars, and that's mostly down to the fact the brand's Superstars have their own
NXT TakeOver PPV on the Friday or Saturday before the Show of Shows takes place. Now, Triple H has been asked for his thoughts on whether we could see the NXT Championship defended at
WrestleMania.
"Right now, the TakeOver the night before is gonna be a pretty epic card," he says. "It becomes a difficult task when you say NXT at WrestleMania when you already have an event that goes maybe five hours. It's hard to put all of that into play in one event. It's why WrestleMania is really a week-long event for fans."
We know that the NXT Women's Championship will be on the line at WrestleMania, of course, but this interview took place before that was confirmed. Ultimately, it likely wouldn't make much sense for NXT to have its other major title on the like at the iconic PPV as well because that hurts TakeOver.
"Sunday will probably be a two-hour lead-in show with epic matches and then a 4-5-hour PPV event from the stadium," Triple H added. "If you start adding more into that event, then it becomes longer and it's diminishing returns. Then you've got Monday Night Raw and this year we'll be doing a special thing with NXT coming out of WrestleMania."
"It's a week-long series of events and you've got to put things in different places," he concluded. "Otherwise WrestleMania would start at 6 am and go into the next morning."
It's going to be interesting finding out what that "special thing" with NXT will be, but based on past experience, we can expect at least a few main roster debuts on the RAW after WrestleMania. We'll have to wait and see, but keep checking back here for updates as we have them.
