Undefeated NXT Women's Champion Asuka Has Relinquished Her Title; Main Roster Move Imminent

Some breaking news from tonight's NXT TV tapings here, as undefeated Women's Champ Asuka has been forced to relinquish her title following her collarbone injury at Takeover: Brooklyn III this past Saturday...

Since a collarbone injury usually comes with a relatively short recovery period (6-8 weeks), most of us figured Asuka would hold on to her NXT Women's Championship until she was ready to compete again, but that wasn't to be.

During tonight's NXT TV tapings at Full Sail, the still undefeated Empress of Tomorrow handed over her title to William Regal, and announced that she is now in negotiations to join either RAW or Smackdown Live's roster. The entire locker-room emptied to give her a proper sendoff.

Though it is obviously great news for the main roster, there's no doubt that the yellow brand will suffer without one of its biggest draws.

Expect to hear news of some kind of tournament to crown a new champ soon.
