NXT Champion Drew McIntyre will defend his title against Adam Cole at an NXT live event in San Antonio on Friday, Nov. 17, and WWE has officially announced that The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels is going to be the special guest referee.

Why this match is taking place on a house show the night before NXT TakeOver: War Games is anyone's guess, though there is speculation that this could signify that Drew is going to drop the title to the leader of The Undisputed Era, possibly setting up a triple-threat match with Andrade “Cien” Almas added to the mix.

One thing's for sure, Cole is not lacking in confidence:

“As far as Drew, he's an impressive athlete,” Cole said. “Drew had been chasing that NXT Championship, and he finally achieved his dream. I almost feel bad for the guy. I feel bad that after all that hard work, all the sacrifice, it's going to be taken away by me. And there's not a damn thing he can do about it.”
