Unfortunately, NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa is indeed set to undergo neck surgery. That will take place today and he's been scheduled for an anterior cervical fusion which will more than likely keep him on the shelf for upwards of six months. That changes plans for NXT TakeOver: New York in a big way.

With any luck, WWE will reveal its plans during next week's NXT TV tapings but it's unclear right now whether or not Ciampa will be in a fit enough state to relinquish the title in person.

This couldn't have come at a worse time, especially as Ciampa (and Johnny Gargano) recently debuted on the main roster, appearing on both RAW and SmackDown Live. As always, we'll be sure to keep you guys updated with more as we have it over the coming days.
