The latest edition of WWE NXT for January 8, 2020 took place at the Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.

Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this episode for those who might have missed it:

— The show kicked off with a promo from Rhea Ripley that was interrupted by Toni Storm, Kay Lee Ray, Io Shirai, Bianca Belair and Candice LeRae, leading to a six-woman tag team match. Ripley, Storm and LeRae defeated Ray, Shirai and Belair by pinfall.

— Imperium defeated The Forgotten Sons by pinfall to advance to Round 2 of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament match.

— Austin Theory defeated Joaquin Wilde by pinfall.

— The Undisputed ERA defeated Gallus by pinfall to advance to Round 2 of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament match.

— Johnny Gargano and Finn Balor had a promo sparring segment and will fight at TakeOver: Portland.

Mia Yim defeated Kayden Carter by pinfall. Chelsea Green attacked both of them after the match and is now aligned with Robert Stone, who plans to take over NXT in 2020.

— Keith Lee defeated Cameron Grimes, Damian Priest and Dominik Dijakovic in a Fatal 4-Way No. 1 Contender's Match. He will face Roderick Strong for the North American Championship in two weeks.
