The latest edition of WWE NXT for March 18, 2020 took place at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Due to the problems and regulations from the COVID-19 pandemic, WWE opted to forego the previously advertised episode and do something different, instead.

Rather than running the celebration for Adam Cole becoming the longest-reigning NXT champion, as well as the qualifying match between Mercedes Martinez and Candice LeRae, tonight's episode was a studio show hosted by Triple H and Tom Phillips.

Throughout the night, three of the top feuds were given a spotlight. For the first hour, a series of clips and interviews detailed the friendship and feud between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. Following that, Finn Balor's experience through NXT, his lackluster run on the main roster and his current goals back on the black and goal brand were examined. Finally, Rhea Ripley's rise to the top of the NXT women's division and her rivalry with Charlotte Flair was focused on.

It is unknown if this is WWE's plan for next week's NXT and future episodes going forward, or if this was just the idea for tonight's edition. No solid information was given about the status of TakeOver, either, although the news from earlier today that WrestleMania 36 would take place over two days on April 4th and April 5th has effectively cancelled TakeOver at least from the previously advertised date. Some rumors suggest TakeOver may be in place of the April 1 episode of NXT.
