The latest edition of WWE NXT for May 20, 2020 took place at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this episode for those who might have missed it:
— Karrion Kross defeated Liam Gray by submission. Following the match, Tommaso Ciampa came out to call Kross special, but remind him that he's also special. Ciampa vs. Kross is set for NXT TakeOver: In Your House on June 7, 2020.
— El Hijo del Fantasma defeated Akira Tozawa by pinfall in an Interim NXT Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Match to advance to the finals.
— Timothy Thatcher challenged Matt Riddle to a rematch, but he wants one where you can't score a cheap pin. Instead, this match will be won only by knockout or tapout. Later, Riddle accepted the challenge and said since Thatcher said Riddle can pick any location, he picks a cage. That will happen next week.
— Shotzi Blackheart was highlighted in a video package, showing off her edginess and featuring her crushing cars with a tank.
— Mia Yim defeated Santana Garrett by pinfall. After the match, Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae talked some trash and jumped Yim until Keith Lee made the save and helped run them off.
— Roderick Strong defeated Dexter Lumis by pinfall. Lumis got the last laugh, as he locked his submission finisher in on Strong after the match and when Adam Cole and Bobby Fish tried to pry him off and help Strong, Velveteen Dream entered the fray and took them out. Lumis cradled Strong's unconscious head in his lap.
— During the commercial break, Akira Tozawa was congratulating El Hijo del Fantasma on his win in the parking lot when the two masked men attacked Tozawa. After Fantasma got out of his car, he chased them away to help Tozawa.
— Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch defeated Ever-Rise (Chase Parker and Matt Martel) by submission.
— Drake Maverick defeated Kushida by pinfall in an Interim NXT Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Match. Next week, Maverick, Kushida and Jake Atlas will face next week in a Triple Threat to advance to the finals.
— Damian Priest wants a match with Finn Balor for TakeOver: In Your House.
— Rhea Ripley vs. Io Shirai ended with Charlotte Flair attacking both of them.
