The latest edition of WWE NXT for September 16, 2020 took place from the NXT Arena at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, Florida.

Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this episode for those who might have missed it:

— Io Shirai defeated Shotzi Blackheart by pinfall. At the upcoming NXT TakeOver event for October 4, 2020, Io Shirai will defend the NXT Women's Championship against the woman who wins the No. 1 contender's battle royal next week.

— Tommaso Ciampa defeated Desmond Troy by pinfall. Ciampa was going to attack Troy some more with a chair, but Jake Atlas came out to cut him off and tell him he's going to show him just how dangerous he can be when they face off again next week. Later in the night, Ciampa attacked Atlas in the parking lot until Kyle O'Reilly stopped him.

— Kushida defeated Austin Theory by submission.

— NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango) retained the titles over Imperium's Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel by pinfall.

— Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro defeated Xia Li and Jessi Kamea by pinfall.

— Drake Maverick and Killian Dain defeated Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong by disqualification

— William Regal announced that there will be a Gauntlet Eliminator match to determine who fights Finn Balor for the NXT Championship at TakeOver on October 4th.

— NXT North American Championship Match: Damian Priest defeated Timothy Thatcher by pinfall to retain the title.
