WWE NXT TakeOver 31 took place Sunday, October 4, 2020 from the newly crowned Capitol Wrestling Center (formerly the WWE Performance Center) in Orlando, Florida.

Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this show, as well as the full breakdown of match results for those who might have missed it:

— On the pre-show, Rhea Ripley told Triple H she wants to fight the winner of the NXT Women's Championship match.

— NXT North American Championship Match: Damian Priest (c) defeated Johnny Gargano by pinfall to retain the title.

— Singles Match: Kushida defeated Velveteen Dream by submission. Kushida continued to attack Velveteen Dream after the match.

— NXT Cruiserweight Championship Match: Santos Escobar (c) defeated Isaiah "Swerve" Scott by pinfall to retain the title. Ashante "Thee" Adonis tried to help Scott out during the match and later was interviewed about that, where he said he doesn't like how Legado del Fantasma has been attacking people.

— NXT Women's Championship Match: Io Shirai (c) defeated Candice LeRae by pinfall to retain the title. After the match, Toni Storm appeared on the screens to say she's back in NXT. Then, Ember Moon appeared, indicating she's also gunning for the title.

— NXT Championship Match: Finn Balor (c) defeated Kyle O'Reilly by pinfall to retain the title. After the match, Ridge Holland
