Could Josh Alexander re-sign with TNA?
It’s well know that the former Impact World Champion’s contract is ending with the promotion. In fact, Alexander’s match against Eric Young on Thursday is billed as his final bout under the TNA banner. Now Josh has talked about the possibilities of joining WWE, AEW, or even New Japan Pro-Wrestling, with him expressing his desire to fight in the G1 Climax someday.
“Oh, absolutely. That’ll be the goal forever until it never happens and then it’ll be a regret forever.” Alexander said on Pro Wrestling Wire, “You know, just keep your fingers crossed and hopefully it can transpire one day. It’s not one of those things like — I jokingly say regret, but like if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. It just wasn’t meant to be. I’ve come to a point in my life where I understand that everything happens for a reason and I’ve been very lucky and grateful along this path. If that doesn’t happen, I can be very happy about the many other things that have occurred in my life and my career."
However, Josh doesn’t cross out re-signing with TNA. The 37-year-old has been complimentary of the promotion and there doesn’t seem to be bad blood between the two sides. If Josh opts to re-sign with TNA, he’ll go straight after the TNA World Championship:
“It’d be the same thing that it was when I came back from my tricep tear, just to regain the TNA World Championship and finish that historic reign I was on because it didn’t end the way I wanted it to. I had to give it up, I had to relinquish the title because I tore my tricep and that was not the way I wanted that reign to end. I don’t think it’s the way anybody wanted it to end. I just never got it back in that year and a half after coming back from injury and it’s something that is certainly disappointing but the wrestling business is the wrestling business, it ain’t just about me, there’s a ton of moving parts and there’s a ton of people in that company that are so over and so talented and deserve that championship along the way. It didn’t end the way I wanted it to, so that’s something that will eat away at me."
We’ll surely see in the coming months what happens with Josh Alexander. His final match is scheduled to take place this week on TNA Impact. Could he show up to NXT next week? Anything’s possible!
