Anderson SIlva's wishes have been granted and he will be fighting in front of his hometown crowd in Curitiba, Brazil at UFC 237. UFC President Dana White confirmed Silva (34-9) will face Jared Cannonier (11-4).

Although Silva's best days in the UFC are far behind him, the 43-year-old Brazilian legend proved at UFC 234 earlier this month that he's still got some gas left in the tank. After the cancellation of the main event match between middleweight champion Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum, the UFC shifted Silva's fight against Adesanya to the main event. It proved to be quite an entertaining match-up as the bout went all three rounds with Adesanya emerging as the winner via a unanimous decision victory.

Silva took the loss in stride and immediately set his sights on fighting at UFC 237 in his home town of Curitiba. He even mentioned Nick Diaz as a potential opponent. While Silva won't face Diaz at UFC 237, he'll still get a chance to entertain his home town fans.

Anderson Silva has lost of his last four fights. Dating back to February 2016, he lost to Michael Bisping and Daniel Cormier before defeating Derek Brunson at UFC 208 in February 2017. His most recent fight was Israel Adesanya, a match in which the UFC promised a middleweight title shot if he had won.

Jared Cannonier is coming off a TKO over David Branch at UFC 230.
