According to PWInsider, WWE currently has no rule in place that means talent are not allowed to mention Daniel Bryan by name on television. Paul Heyman held a ten-bell "salute" for the leader of the Yes Movement on Friday night's episode of SmackDown, but that very much felt like a farewell for Bryan.
Remember, when CM Punk left the company (under admittedly much different circumstances), WWE started pretending he didn't exist. Even recently, Matt Hardy has been edited out of video packages because he signed with All Elite Wrestling after his WWE contract reached its end. As of right now, though, Bryan hasn't signed with anyone, hence why WWE isn't burying him in any way.
It's also noted that WWE isn't looking to actively distance itself from Bryan in the near future, and it's no secret that Vince McMahon is appreciative of the work he's done for the company.
Corey Graves actually addressed Bryan's absence on WWE's After the Bell podcast this weekend. "At this point, Bryan is playing his cards close to the vest to my knowledge, he hasn’t made any public statements about what’s next, there are plenty of speculations swirling in the internet wrestling community," he said. "That’s basically all we have to work with at this point."
It's no secret that Bryan wants to be at home more to look after his family, while he's also expressed an interest in wrestling for other companies (something the former WWE Champion recently revealed he's pushing for when he signs a new deal). WWE might be on board with the former, but the latter?
Well, if they can't agree on that, then Bryan is almost certainly heading elsewhere...
