Baron Corbin made his main roster debut by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and his stock has been on the rise ever since. As one of the top stars on SmackDown Live, he's the current holder of the Money in the Bank briefcase and will inevitably become WWE Champion at some point in the next year or so.
While he's no doubt on top of the world right now, Corbin has revealed in a new interview that winning the briefcase itself was something of a harrowing experience and his explanation for why that was actually makes a whole lot of sense.
“It was terrifying, because I’m on a 16-foot ladder and it’s moving, and there are people trying to throw me off of it — and that’s the thing, too; I thought, ‘Oh it’s a ladder, it’ll be easy.’ And even just kind of walking through things and climbing up the ladder, I was like ‘Wait, this is moving.’ And then I’m gonna add five other people to being in the match, and I have to take both hands off the ladder to unclip it and I’m going, ‘Please, just don’t fall off, don’t be here for five minutes trying to … ‘ It’s an experience, but I walked away with [the briefcase].”
When you think about it, the stress which must come with making sure you don't screw up when you're on top of the ladder has to be huge. What if you can't unclip it or fall off in the process of doing so? It would have made Corbin a laughing stock and potentially ruined the match so the fact he breathed a sigh of relief after walking away with it is easy to understand!
With Shinsuke Nakamura set to take on Jinder Mahal at SummerSlam, it wouldn't be all that surprising if Corbin attempts to cash in on his enemy there should he emerge victorious. We'll just have to wait and see but share your thoughts below.
