A new episode of WWE Chronicle premiered on the WWE Network yesterday, with the spotlight put on former Universal Champion Braun Strowman. In that episode, the Monster Among Men detailed his frustrations with where he was positioned in the company last year, and admitted that his feelings about that led to him considering suicide.
"I got to the point where I was on the verge of I had enough," he admits. "I kind of busted in on Vince one day in a meeting and I was like ‘I need to talk to you’ and he kicked everybody out of the production meeting and he sat down and talked to me. Not like boss to employee but like man to man, almost like a father son talk thing."
Strowman explained that McMahon's words gave him the confidence he needed to realise he did have a place in the company and was needed for the long haul (rather than being left spinning his wheels).
"I’m very thankful to have a relationship with him like that because I might not even be here," Strowman admitted. "I don’t even like talking about this out loud but I was thinking about killing myself a couple of times. That I got to that point, I should have talked to somebody sooner. I never knew how much he cared about me. I thought I was just a number in a system. That day he made me realize that I’m more important than a number I can’t thank him enough for doing that."
It's definitely shocking to hear that Strowman was this unhappy, but it's easy to relate to where he's coming from as it can't have been easy to have big ambitions in his career, only to believe that he wasn't going anywhere and never would.
Thankfully, things are now looking up for the Monster Among Men.
