Charlotte Flair Reportedly Requires Surgery; Nia Jax's Attack On RAW Was A Way To Write Her Off TV

Charlotte Flair was taken out by Nia Jax on Raw this week, and this may have been done as a way to write The Queen off WWE television while she recovers from surgery. Find out more after the jump...

We assumed Nia Jax's attack on Charlotte Flair during last night's episode of Raw was simply setting up a feud between the two (and that might still be the plan down the road), but it turns out The Queen may legitimately require surgery, and this was done as a means of writing her off television.

According to TalkSport, Flair will be "taking an extended break from WWE," and while she may return before the year is out, there's said to be "0 percent chance" she'll be back for SummerSlam. A separate report from Dave Meltzer indicates that Charlotte will be undergoing surgery during her hiatus, although it's not expected to be on the shoulder/arm that was targeted by Jax on the show.

WWE's storyline statement mentions that Flair is being "evaluated for a potential collarbone fracture."

Charlotte has been heavily involved in some of WWE's top angles for quite a long time now, so it's hardly surprising that she'd want to take a break. Between The Queen's hiatus and Becky Lynch being gone for at least the next nine months, expect the focus to be shifted to Asuka, Bayley, Sasha Banks, and - if Vince has any sense - Shayna Baszler.
