After days of rumours about Charly Caruso's WWE status, it was confirmed this week that she's left the company to accept a full-time position with ESPN. Prior to that announcement, it had been reported that she had backstage heat in WWE after showing up late for interviews with Superstars like Randy Orton and Sheamus.
Well, Caruso has now addressed those claims head-on in an interview with TV Insider.
"There is always going to be chatter," she said of those online reports. "The contract was coming up. Instead of renewing, I’m moving on. Everyone is going to have their own opinions regardless. I never had any issues while I was at WWE. Nothing bad happened. As far as I’m concerned, I’m leaving on a positive note and beginning what I believe to be the next step in my career."
Caruso acknowledged that "it was difficult" to juggle her WWE work with ESPN, but also reflected on her recent storyline with Angel Garza and Zelina Vega.
Describing it as her "best memory," she added: "That was the most involved in a storyline I’ve ever been. It was fun and different from what I was doing on a weekly basis. I loved that I was able to do a little bit of acting rather than just asking questions. I wish it could have been taken further than it was. WWE went in a different direction, but I had a blast before it ended."
Needless to say, we wish Caruso all the best with her ESPN future. She's certainly talented, and beyond the aforementioned storyline, never really got to do much beyond ask those scripted questions.
