WWE Backstage has been taken off the air due to ongoing Coronavirus concerns, and that's left CM Punk without a platform to discuss pro wrestling. Well, during a recent appearance on the "Swing & Mrs." podcast, the one-time Best in the World addressed a possible in-ring return, and it definitely sounds like he's open to wrestling again (under the right circumstances).
"I get that question a lot. The answer changes," he explained. "It’s a very fluid answer. Currently, if the business was right and I had somebody that motivated me across the ring from me, I think, might be able to get it done. Nobody has dangled the correct carrot."
Punk went on to say that he would be open to facing the likes of John Cena, Daniel Bryan, and Rey Mysterio in WWE because he's faced them before and would be open to listening to their ideas. "There’s a lot of moving parts. I’m busy doing other stuff and nobody has found the right combination of ways to approach me. It’s not all up to me, ladies and gentlemen. It’s up to the people who actually run the company."
Does that mean he's hoping for a call from WWE Chairman Vince McMahon? This is perhaps the closest we've heard him acknowledging a possible WWE return. As for who he'd face outside of that company, he named Will Ospreay, a fan-favourite independent wrestler, as a strong contender.
