After arriving in WWE, Daniel Bryan started using the Yes Lock as his finisher. Later, he introduced a running knee, but on the independent scene, Bryan Danielson made use of many different manoeuvres.
Among them was the "Cop Killa." It's a great looking move, but one that's also extremely dangerous. Way back in 2000, Bryan used it on Brian Kendrick in a match that was being watched by William Regal. While Shawn Michaels is often credited for the Leader of the Yes Movement's career, it was Regal who actually mentored him and ultimately helped Bryan reach WWE.
As it turns out, it was Regal who encouraged Bryan never to use "Cop Killa" again...and he hasn't!
"In 2000, I did to Brian Kendrick, I did Homicide's finisher. I did that to Brian Kendrick. He landed completely safe and all that kind of stuff," Bryan says in the video below. "Regal came to me, he was at the show and he said, 'I don't ever wanna see you do that move again!' And I thought he was joking at first and I laughed, and he said, 'No! I'm deadly serious. Never do that move again.'"
"And I never did it again. It's the concept of like, 'Hey yeah...cool moves are cool, but these are real bodies.' You know what I mean? So you have to take care of yourself."
