Daniel Bryan is no longer under contract with WWE, leaving his status in the pro wrestling world very much in doubt. Some believe he's retired, while others are convinced he's heading to All Elite Wrestling or New Japan Pro Wrestling. WWE has reportedly been pushing hard to get him to sign a new deal, but unless a surprise return during the Draft is planned, it looks unlikely.
On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez addressed the former WWE Champion's status, revealing that he's been pulled from a number of upcoming WWE projects.
He started by explaining, "I’m not sure if it’s the video game or what it is but one of these projects that involves obviously the wrestlers in WWE, they were alerted today that this person, this person, this person [are] no longer with WWE and one of the people they mentioned was Daniel Bryan. Realistically, he’s not with the company, that’s true but that is an indication that at this point take him out of whatever project this is because he’s not with this company."
Alvarez went on to talk about the fact that if there are plans for Bryan to make a surprise return in the coming weeks, then he could be added back into these projects as that would be on a need to know basis. "I’m not saying he’s coming back. I don’t know if he’s coming back here," Alvarez continued. "I don’t know if he’s going to AEW, I don’t know if he’s going to New Japan, I don’t know if he’s not doing anything and most everyone else doesn’t know either."
We're not really any closer to learning whether Bryan will make his return to WWE when fans attend shows, but this update doesn't really bode well for the leader of the Yes Movement's future with the company.
