Drew Gulak Has Quietly Parted Ways With WWE Despite Appearing On Friday's SMACKDOWN

Drew Gulak lost to Daniel Bryan on Friday night's episode of SmackDown in the first round of the Intercontinental Championship Tournament, but little did we know that would mark his final WWE appearance.

Yesterday, reports started circling that Drew Gulak had quietly been moved from the active roster page on WWE.com to the Alumni section, a sign that he has been released by the company. Now, the news has been confirmed, and he's officially a free agent!

It doesn't look like Gulak's release has anything to do with the recent budget cuts which have come as a result of COVID-19, and it instead sounds like both sides were unable to agree on a new contract. This is definitely a shocker, as WWE has started slowly pushing the former 205 Live star, while his match with Daniel Bryan on SmackDown this past Friday was excellent (Bryan even took to Twitter after to thank him).

Due to the way his release has been handled, Gulak can now go anywhere he likes, so we could see him in All Elite Wrestling - assuming they're interested - as soon as next week!

Gulak was signed by WWE after wrestling in the inaugural Cruiserweight Classic, and spent most of his time competing in the Cruiserweight division on 205 Live. However, he was soon moved to the main roster, and has since been making a noteworthy impact on SmackDown each week.
