Drew McIntyre will defend the WWE Championship against Dolph Ziggler at Extreme Rules.
The Showoff made a surprise appearance on Raw this week to announce that both he and Robert Roode have been traded to the red brand in exchange for AJ Styles moving to SmackDown (we know who got the best of that deal), and wasted no time in confronting his old friend Drew to demand the title shot he believes he'd owed for "bringing" the Scottish Superstar back to the main roster.
McIntyre called most of what Ziggler said revisionist history, but since he didn't have a challenger lined up for the PPV, he agreed to the match. WWE later made it official.
Look, we're sure these guys will have a strong showing, but does anyone really want to see Dolph Ziggler get another shot at a title we know for a fact he has zero chance of winning? Is WWE really that short of challengers for McIntyre on Raw that they had to give a SmackDown blow-in first dibs?
The "plan" seems to be to have Drew run through as many opponents as possible in quick succession until they decide to put the belt back on Roman Reigns.
