ESPN has shared a great post with a number of WWE Superstars reflecting on The Undertaker's legendary career, and among them is WWE Hall of Famer Edge. Not too long ago, the Deadman's wife, Michelle McCool, revealing that he wanted to end The Streak at WrestleMania 24 when he faced Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Now, Edge has explained that his plan for their match was for it be "streak vs. streak" with the idea that both Superstars would have headed into the Showcase of Immortals with an undefeated streak behind them.
"Initially, I was in the Money in the Bank match [at WrestleMania 23], and I was supposed to win that match," he explained. "That would have kept my undefeated streak at WrestleMania intact. It was changed the week of, with Mr. Kennedy winning it."
"I voiced my concern, saying, 'OK, I understand you want to go a different direction … however, if we are still going this way with Taker next year, to me there’s a lot more intrigue if you have two people undefeated [at WrestleMania].' [Later], my idea was that [The Undertaker] had never defeated me in any of our matches. So it was, 'Maybe this guy just has Taker’s number?'"
That certainly still made for a dramatic match, but The Undertaker's undefeated Streak at the Show of Shows wouldn't end until seven years later when he faced Brock Lesnar in New Orleans at WrestleMania 30.
