Former NXT Cruiserweight Champion Lio Rush might be done with professional wrestling.
The former WWE superstar was one of the talents cut from the promotion several weeks ago. Since dropping the title back in December, Rush wasn’t used much on television and mainly competed on the mostly unnoticed 205 Live. His last match in WWE was on the February 28th episode when Rush took on Tony Nese. He won the contest via Disqualification; however, that may have been Rush’s final match inside the squared circle as the former WWE superstar stated that he might be done with wrestling altogether:
Of course, Rush doesn’t confirm his retirement; however, the former WWE superstar is currently focusing on his rap career, thus professional wrestling might just be on the backburner for a bit as his album is coming out this month.
Rush has been wrestling professionally since 2014 and was first noticed due to his participation in the 2016 ROH Top Prospect Tournament. The former NXT Cruiserweight Champion would go on to win the entire competition and signed with ROH immediately after.
Rush would make his way to WWE in 2017, but he didn’t really make a statement in the company until his pairing with Bobby Lashley on the main roster in 2018. After reportedly having backstage heat from officials again, Rush was taken off of television and returned to NXT in late 2019, in which he remained there until his departure.
It would be a shame if Rush never laced up a pair of boots again as the former WWE star is talented; however, here’s wishing the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion the best of luck on his future endeavors should he decide to stop wrestling for good.
