As a multi-time world champion in WWE, it's understandable that Seth Rollins often defends the company he works for. That hasn't made him popular with some fans, of course, but it's hard to fault him for wanting to make WWE the best it can be and for believing in the place which helped make him a household name.
Recently, Rollins was a guest on The Gorilla Position podcast, and the Monday Night Messiah was asked to share his thoughts on the (mostly poorly received) RAW Underground segments.
"Hey man, it’s outside the box," he started. "Our audience is different. They are begging for something different all the time, something new, something fresh. I think my verdict on it is TBD. Let’s see what happens. It could end up being ridiculous in a bad way or it could end up being ridiculous in a good way."
"Obviously the first week got people’s attention. We jumped up a little bit in our viewership which is great, I had no idea what to expect when I saw it on the sheet. When I watched it back, I was not entirely offended by it, especially that it is a brand new idea in its infancy. Obviously they will make adjustments to it and figure it out along the way. I’m open to seeing what it becomes as time goes on."
Honestly, it sounds like even Rollins is struggling to defend RAW Underground, and while ratings did increase this past Monday, the third hour plummeted (an indication that most fans weren't interested enough in sticking around to check it out).
Time will tell what happens as Rollins says, but it could just be another WWE stunt that doesn't last.
