Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal could be making his in-ring return very soon
According to the man himself on WrestlingRumors.net, the Modern Day Maharaja is “cleared and waiting”; Back in June 2019, Mahal suffered an injury by rupturing his Patella Tendon during a match against Ali in Denver, Colorado. As of this writing, there’s no word backstage on whether there’s any future plans for the former WWE Champion.
Since Mahal dropped the prestigious belt against AJ Styles in November of 2017, the 33-year-old’s stock has considerably fallen within the promotion. While Mahal would go on to win a four-way match at WrestleMania involving Boddy Roode, Randy Orton, and Rusev to capture the United States Championship, he would drop the title to Jeff Hardy after holding onto the belt for only eight days.
Mahal would get a chance to have a main event feud against former multi-time WWE Champion Roman Reigns at Money in the Bank 2018; however, it was simply a one-and-done match designed to put over Reigns. Following his extremely brief stint at US Champion and high-profile match against Reigns, Mahal has mostly played the glorified jobber role, though he managed to capture the 24/7 Championship on two separate occasions.
The former WWE Champion was under the blue brand before his injury; Unless the company decides to move him over to Raw like Apollo Crews, then he’ll probably end up on Smackdown Live upon his return.
