It looks like The King of Cruiserweights has been released from his contract.
Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that the former two-time cruiserweight champion is no longer under WWE contract., though we don't have any details on why Vince finally let Neville go.
The 32-year-old packed his bags and walked out on the WWE in October 2017 due to his frustration with creative’s booking of his character. Back in January, it was reported that his contract was frozen by the WWE, meaning that it would keep him under contract indefinitely or until a release was agreed upon. Neville mostly kept a low profile since leaving the company.
The man that gravity forgot first arrived in the WWE back in 2012 under the name PAC. Neville would go on to win the NXT Tag Team titles twice and the NXT championship once throughout his tenure in the developmental brand. He eventually made his main roster debut on the RAW after WrestleMania by defeating Curtis Axel. While Neville shined when he was given an opportunity to do so – his standout match with Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight championship comes to mind – creative never truly got behind the talented highflyer as a babyface.
However, Neville’s career was revitalized on December 2016 when he turned heel by giving then cruiserweight champion Rich Swann a beating that he would never forget. Neville became the “King of the cruiserweights” at the Royal Rumble by capturing the cruiserweight title and went on to have a 197-day title reign before losing to Akira Tozawa on RAW in a questionable decision that ultimately went nowhere. Neville regained the title later that week at Summerslam.
He dropped the title again at No Mercy against one of the world’s greatest cruiserweights to ever grace a ring, Enzo Amore. Once Neville was told that he would job to Enzo Amore again on RAW, he reportedly walked out on the company.
Earlier this week in a brief update, Cody tweeted saying he missed Neville. Matt Jackson replied saying,
“Me too. I talked to him the other day. He’s good.”
